Google had launched Google Plus to compete with Facebook. Obviously, many features of Google Plus were supposed to be similar to Facebook.
However, something that intrigues people about the profiles on Facebook and Google Plus is Cover Image. Profile Pic or Display image is passé. Now Cover Image is the thing that commands attention when someone wishes to understand the nature, taste and mentality of a person.
Now the Google Plus Cover Image is super sized. You can make your Google Plus profile look more attractive with a giant Google + bigger cover image.
The changes regarding Google Plus Cover Image were announced by Googler Sara McKinley and shared to a wider audience by Vic Gundotra, Google’s Vice President of Engineering.
This way more images can be used as cover photos, and there’s more room for your selection to shine.
With the latest change, following are the things that would give a new look to your Google Plus profile:
1. Big image:
Google claims that now we can upload cover images with a maximum size of 2120 x 1192. These images will be displayed in 16:9 ratio.
2. About tab:
Now the about tab has been split into sections for your story, places and links. Google claims that the new change will make it easier for users to update.
3. New link on left (tab) to the Google+ sidebar:
This link is for your local reviews. This link assumes that you would post your preferences, opinions and reviews on Google+ instead of other popular and competitive sites like Yelp, Urban Spoon, and Foursquare etc.
Google has claimed that you can still choose who can see what on your profile. This includes fields in the new “about” section. You can limit the content on your profile to specific circles, open publicly or only yourself can view.
These changes are rolling out gradually, country to country. Depending on your country, your profile may witness these changes in near future.
The new change certainly seems to be fabulous it would make the Google Plus profile look more attractive and glamorous. As for privacy and security, it remains to be seen how safe a Google Plus profile is because any security setting or privacy setting is safe until some hacker finds a way to intrude it.
