I was wondering is this really a thing in SEO… so I searched for a few keywords in Google, and the results amazed me. Almost 55% sites that were actually ranking in Google have a really poor Page Speed score. But they are still ranking in 2021. I really need a proper answer to this. You can DM me as well.

According to Google, 53% of visits are abondoned if the site takes more than 3 seconds to load.
For every brand, their goal is to get more sales/leads. Keeping that in mind, User experience actually take a toss if the page speed is low.
Now coming back to your question, The simple answer is that page speed does affect SEO. Page speed is a direct ranking factor, a fact known even better since Google’s Algorithm Speed Update. However, speed can also affect rankings indirectly, by increasing the bounce rate and reducing dwell time.
