What’s the average cost of moving

I’ve been crunching numbers for a while now trying to figure out what kind of budget I should expect for my move from Boston to San Francisco. It’s a two-bedroom apartment, and I’m not bringing absolutely everything, but still a good amount of furniture and boxes. I talked to one company already and their quote seemed kind of high — like $7,000+. I have no idea if that’s typical or if I should be looking for something cheaper. I’d really like to avoid any shady pricing or last-minute charges, so I’m hoping someone who’s done this before can give me an honest idea of what to expect and maybe some tips to keep costs reasonable.
