Is it smart to buy followers before launching an online store on Instagram?

Hey folks, I’m working on opening a small online shop through Instagram soon — mostly handmade stuff. Right now the account is freshly made, no posts yet, just a bio and profile pic. A friend told me it might help to buy followers before launching, so it doesn’t look empty and people don’t scroll past it thinking it’s a scam. But I’m not sure if that actually makes a difference or if I should wait until I post my products. I’d love to hear from someone who’s tried this — does it build trust or just look fake?

Hey, I’ve actually gone through something similar when I was helping my sister set up her thrift store on Instagram. We didn’t have a single post at first, but we wanted to make the page look somewhat active. So we decided to grow instagram followers cheap
before uploading the first few product photos. It gave the profile that initial push and helped attract some organic followers who felt like the shop was already established. It’s not about faking it, just about not looking totally new — people tend to trust pages that already have some activity.

Random thought, but it’s wild how much trust people place in numbers. A shop with 500 followers looks way more real than one with 5, even if they’re selling the same exact thing. Maybe we just associate numbers with credibility now, like digital word-of-mouth.
